Serviceberry is one of North America’s finest native woods for traditional walking sticks. It grows slowly, producing dense, fine-grained wood that is strong, durable, and naturally beautiful.
In many ways it’s our local counterpart to the famous Irish blackthorn. Both trees belong to the rose family and produce tough, resilient wood with natural curves shaped by the tree itself.
Each stick begins as a carefully selected branch that is air-seasoned for 1–2 years, then shaped and finished by hand. The result is a walking stick that feels solid in the hand and will only gain character with time.
No two are alike. Every piece is shaped first by the tree and then finished by hand.
